This book is intended for use by pupils in Levels 5 and 6, as well as those in the lower forms of Secondary School.

It is divided into three sections:

1 Grammar - This part covers the basics of Grammar and punctuation. It deals with the different types of sentences, parts-of-speech, the various punctuation marks and how these are used. Concepts are explained in a simple manner in order to assist the pupil to secure a strong background or foundation which will enhance self-learning.

2 The Spelling and Vocabulary section covers the basics of spelling and new interesting ways to extend and enrich vocabulary.

3 Composition and Comprehension - The Comprehension passages are varied and consists of Recipes, Radio Logs, Guides etc. which the writer hopes should prove interesting and exciting. The writing process is simply described in both letter writing and essays.

There are exercises given for each section which will provide practice and reinforcement in the use of concepts discussed. It is important that students are encouraged to complete as many practice exercises as possible, as practice makes pertect.

The use of the dictionary and suitable reference books should be encouraged so that the pupil is given the incentive to discover information for himself.
It is hoped that the use of this book will provide opportunities for the pupil to augment his vocabulary, perfect his spelling skills and extend his knowledge and use of the English Language.
