This book is composed of 24 multiple choice tests, each consisting of 45 questions. There are 12 o pure mathematics unit 1 and 12 of pure mathematics unit 2. In all, there are over 1000 multiple choice questions.
The questions span the entire CAPE pure mathematics syllabus on all the various topics, as well as a few simpler ones involving the recollection of some of the basic rules of additional and AS mathematics.
These questions may also vary in degree of difficulty from test to test. Some of the questions may actually be considered quite easy and may require little or no written computation, while others may, by comparison, require in-depth or deeper thinking and reasoning and may be considered challenging even to the more prepared students. Hence the time expected for the solutions of questions vary.
The tests may be used in a variety of ways by both students and tutors, as,
(i) a classroom exercise
(ii) an exercise involving group study (iii) an individual exercise (iv) a test exercise
At the end of each test, students are advised to review and revise the topics relating to the questions that may have presented difficulty. This shall enable them to solve problems of a similar nature that may appear even in other multiple choice tests of this book, as well as Paper 2 of the CAPE mathematics examination.
Whatever method or combination of methods students decide to adopt while using this book, it is recommended that these tests be attempted on the completion of the CAPE mathematics course.
It is strongly suggested that a systematic approach as well as techniques to improve time management and general performance be employed.
The book is designed primarily for the candidates who are preparing for the CAPE Pure Mathe-matics, but candidates being readied in the said discipline for other A-level examining boards such as the Advanced Level Mathematics at Cambridge, London, Oxford, etc., shall also find the book extremely useful and helpful.
