CAPE Unit 1 New Integrated Geography is designed to facilitate the teaching and learning of CAPE Geography in secondary schools. It aims to nurture students so that they become competent learners who are able to select and apply appropriate geographical skills and knowledge to understand, analyze and explain geography in their daily lives. The text adopts an inquiry-process approach, building upon students' basic knowledge gained from the CSEC syllabus, as well as from their immediate environment and experiences of the Caribbean and the world at large. The approach emphasizes the critical learning processes of exploration, observation, investigation and questioning which requires students to apply the skills of reading and comprehension, critical and creative thinking and problem solving.
