New Integrated Geography for CSEC is a text designed to facilitate the teaching and learning of Geography in secondary schools, and is specially geared to prepare students for the new CC CSEC Geography examinations. It aims to nurture students to become competent learners who are able to select and apply appropriate geographical knowledge and skills to analyse, understand and explain Geography in their daily lives.
Approach
The text adopts an inquiry-process approach underpinned by the pedagogical principle of leading students from the known to the unknown by making use of their knowledge and experience of the world, as well as the immediate environment. Thus, the approach emphasises the critical learning processes of observation, exploration, investigation, examination and questioning to equip students with, and at the same time, require them to apply the following skills: reading and comprehension; observation; critical thinking (such as analysing, inferring, comparing, classifying, sequencing, questioning concepts, identifying errors, making generalisations, drawing conclusions and decisions-making); and creative thinking involving generating possibilities and problem solving.
