This book is written for students who are studying Office Administration and for teachers who teach the subject for the Caribbean Examinations Council Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate examination. The amendments of the syllabus have been included in this new edition. It is also suitable for students preparing for similar local and overseas examinations and for persons who would like to be equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to function effectively and efficiently in an office working environment.

The chapters are arranged according to the sequence of the amended syllabus, but teachers can incorporate different items of the syllabus during the delivery of a lesson. The book is divided into three parts.

Part I covers the requirements for the whole examination and contains essay questions similar to the examination questions to test the two profiles - Knowledge and Application - for each objective of the syllabus.
The questions give students the opportunity to practise for Paper 02 of the examination.

Part II consists entirely of multiple choice questions for each objective of the syllabus, also to test the two profiles - Knowledge and Application. Two multiple choice tests (Specimen Examination Papers) are set for the end of the course. A key is provided for the tests. This part gives students the opportunity to practise for Paper 01 of the examination. There is also a special multiple choice workbook to be used with this textbook.

Part III caters for Paper 03/1, the School-Based Assessment (SBA), and for Paper 03/2, the Case Study. It provides detailed, step-by-step guidance, with several specimens for undertaking the SBA. The information is presented in the sequence in which the SBA should be undertaken.

It is intended that after students have studied each topic in the syllabus, they should be able to test their knowledge of the facts, information, concepts, principles and procedures relating to activities in an office and to apply them in a given situation by answering essay and multiple choice questions relevant to the topic in this textbook. Workbook is also available.

On completion of this book, students should be able to:
* Describe the functions and importance of the various offices in an organisation.
* List hardware and software used in the various offices and state the functions of each
* Identify the personnel employed in each office.
* Describe the duties and responsibilities of a clerk employed in the various offices.
* Complete forms used in various offices.
* State the purposes/uses of documents used in various offices.
* Interpret abbreviations and terminology relating to office documents.
* Recall information, concepts, principles, procedures and practices relating to office work.
